The Brazilian Club for German Shepherds (CBPA) was established with the objective of becoming the entity where breeders and lovers of German Shepherds will work together for the development of the breeding in all its aspects, in close cooperation with its partners all over the world, respecting all its affiliations and international agreements in force.
The founders of CBPA consider of utmost importance the respect everyone in the club deserves, as everyone should be seen as partners in a healthy relationship amongst all lovers of German Shepherds.
The doors of the Club are wide open for everyone who identifies himself or herself with the democratic ideals established, specially in what refers to the election of the members of the Board by the direct vote of all German Shepherd lovers, the autonomy of the different powers and the respect to all affiliated clubs. The doors are open even for the ones who initially hesitated and chose other paths.
The ideals of the founders of the CBPA do not give room to practices which are not in conformity with the highest ethical standards, and the Club will never serve as an instrument for obtaining and maintaining power without the will of its members, or to carry out any kind of unjustified retaliation due to problems of the past.
The CBPA was established by people who want to promote a healthy debate amongst its members, by people who do not think that ideas and the debate in general should be suffocated. On the contrary, the founders of the Club believe that the debate should flow naturally and see it as a contribution for constantly improving the breeding of German Shepherds in Brazil. The founders do not agree with the preconceived idea that the aim would be to avoid the debate on important questions and thus prefer to stay quiet instead.
The CBPA intends to be a Club where its rules should be applied to all its members, without any prejudice to any group. Punishments will not be imposed to the ones who think in an independent way and prizes will not be awarded to the ones who stay on their knees before the throne, as the Club expects the collaboration of all and deplores any kind of subservient behaviour.
The by-laws of the Club reflect the abovementioned ideals. In order that its words become a reality, it is important that everyone expresses its views, without fear of retaliation, before its Board, so that the ideals of the Club are strictly observed.
The members of the Club should understand that the practices to be followed are of utmost importance, as the main foundations of the Club are the plurality of opinions, the respect of individual rights, the direct vote by its members for electing the Board, the independent powers and autonomy of all its affiliated Clubs.
In order to better reflect the independent conduct to be followed by its members, it is worth mentioning a text written by Eduardo Galeano, one of the greatest thinkers of mankind, who wrote: “One day we received as a gift a little guinea pig, which was given to us inside a cage. At mid-day, I opened the door of the cage. When I returned home in the evening, I saw the little animal as I had left him: inside the cage, holding on tightly to the bars of the cage, shaking with the possibility of the unexpected and sudden freedom in front of him.”
The CBPA was established precisely with the purpose of providing a balanced freedom for all its breeders and lovers of the race, who up to now have been mere expectators, as decisions were being taken by a small group without any kind of participation and discussion. To conclude, the purpose of CBPA is to guarantee the necessary environment so that all lovers of the German Shepherd race meet the requirements and benefit from all the citizenship rights defined by the rules, and leave behind the cages in which they were confined for so many years.
The CBPA is a rare and unique opportunity to everyone to promote a free debate of ideas, without fear of being punished, so as to promote the development of the German Shepherd breeding in Brazil.
